“We were a bit inconsistent at times but that often happens at the start of a season.”
Oaklands Head Coach Thomas Baker commented:
“The guys played with real enthusiasm and intensity today and it was a game that gives us a lot to learn from. Credit to Coach Vear and Barking, they demonstrated why they were the champions last year and with the roster they have I think they will be the team to beat this year.
“For us, we will continue to grow and be better game by game, we identified afterwards what went well and what we need to improve on and I am excited to get back on the floor with the guys tomorrow.”
BA jumped on Oaklands early, starting on a 9-3 run, and beginning as they intended to carry on. By halftime they led 44-28
A big run bridging the third and fourth quarters saw BA extend their biggest lead of the game at 29. a 14-0 run from Oaklands saw them pull closer but the damage had already been done.
The home side had Shaheem Tuvera with 17 points, Jordan George went for 18 and Jordan Tomlinson rounded out Oaklands top scorers with 9.
BA will look to continue their strong start when they host BHASVIC next week.
