Defending Champions Barking Abbey improved to 2-0 on the season in the EABL with an 85-42 win over BHASVIC on Wednesday afternoon at BA.
BA jumped out to a commanding 26-7 lead after the opening period and never looked back, rotating players throughout the game.
Despite Jake Watson’s best efforts for BHASVIC, BA had extended their lead to 47-16 at halftime and had put the game away by the break.
A better second half from BHASVIC, where they almost matched their first half points total in the third period, saw them fight back but the game had already been decided.
“We got off to a really good start something we haven’t done in our last few games so that built us quite a substantial lead after the first quarter,” Head Coach James Vear said.
“There were times where we switched off a bit mentally but overall there were lots of positives to take, with everyone contributing .”
BA were led by a 19-point, 11-rebound double-double from Nathaniel Powell, whilst Spyros Kapsalos added 14 points and 5 steals, and Robin Bedford finished with 12.
Watson finished 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead BHASVIC, whilst Enoch Quarcoo was the only other player to reach double figures for the visitors with 12 points.
BA will look to move to 3-0 next week when they travel to Canterbury.
