Four Barking Abbey players have finished ranked in the top twenty at the annual DENG TOP 50 camp at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.
NBA star Luol Deng’s annual camp invites the top fifty under-19 players in the country for a four day event to face off against each other, resulting in a final top 20 players being ranked for an All Star game.
Sean Nealon-Lino finished 10th, Pierce Maslen 15th (and finished second in the event in assists at 4.3 per game), Jonathan St Hilaire 18th and Robin Bedford 20th, in what was a solid showing for BA academy players.
Additionally, Daniel Delgado received this year’s Jimmy Rogers Award, for the player with the best attitude and work ethic.
The camp focuses on the highest level of players playing in the UK this season that are currently still to confirm their basketball commitments following high school education. The players go through 5 on 5 competitive games, individual and team drills, combine testing, 3 on 3 games, along with nutrition and strength and conditioning seminars.
The camp’s top 20 ranking is only the first part of the process, as players will continue to be tracked and evaluated throughout the season with a chance to move up or down in the rankings.

Meanwhile, BA Director of Operations Lloyd Gardner was involved as a scout for the event, helping evaluate and rank talent.
Barking Abbey’s Josh Kanini was also involved with the camp, as he will aim to get into the top 20 with a strong showing through the rest of the season.
