All members of Barking Abbey Basketball Academy must first be full time students at Barking Abbey School
SIXTH FORM ACADEMY
To be considered for a place on the sixth form academy, potential students must first have submitted an application form for the sixth form at Barking Abbey School together with a reference from their present school. The sixth form at Barking Abbey offers a broad range of courses consisting of BTEC first and National Diplomas, A-Levels and from September 2010, the International baccalaureate
To receive a copy of the application form and prospectus of the courses available at the school please contact the basketball academy office using the details on the 'Contact Us' section, found HERE
Once an application form has been received, a member of the Basketball Academy staff will contact you to find out more information about your basketball background and experience. This will be in the form of an information sheet which is sent to each applicant and will need to be returned to the basketball academy office.
The information sheet will be used in conjunction with the Academy Staff's ongoing scouting network to determine if the applicant might be invited into the school for an open try out or to work out with current Barking Abbey Academy students.
Due to the large number of applicants and the competitive nature of the places on the academy, not all students will be invited into the school to be accessed by the academy staff.
Applicants who have been offered a place on the Basketball Academy must then sit an interview with one of the school Heads of Sixth Form to discuss their academic choices and the reference from their previous school before they are formally offered a place at the school.
KEY STAGE FOUR ACADEMY
Entry to the Key Stage Four Academy is done on an individual basis with no formal application process. Due to the small number of places available in each year group, the majority of places are offered through the Academy's scouting network.
The Key Stage Four Academy is able to accept students into school years 9 and 10 to follow an academic pathway of GCSE's and/or BTEC qualifications like any other student at Barking Abbey School.
To be considered for a place on the Key Stage Four Academy please contact the Basketball Academy Office using the details on the 'Contact Us' page, found HERE.
