Date: 30th August 2017   •   Category: Latest News

Barking Abbey Director and British Basketball board member Mark Clark has been appointed as interim Performance Director for the national federation.

Clark, who was appointed Board Director for Performance in March, will continue in his role at BA whilst in the position, and has already been working closely with Great Britain coaches at all levels this summer.

Clark has considerable coaching experience, having been a former Head Coach of Great Britain’s Senior Women’s Team as well as for junior national teams at U16, U18 and U19 levels, whilst his son, Dan, and daughter, Ella, are both GB Senior internationals.

Clark, who was also Basketball England interim CEO in 2015, said:

“It is a privilege to be asked to take on this role.

“I’ve always believed that we have the potential to compete and win. Realising our potential will require the whole sport to be on the same page which I am confident we will be.

“The game says that we want to be at the top. To compete with the best on a regular basis is going to take a huge and sustained effort. If I can contribute to building the culture and the structures to enable the sport to develop, then I will feel I’ve made a positive contribution.”

Chief Executive for British Basketball, Lisa Wainwright added:

“Mark’s knowledge of the UK game as a whole, as well as his international experience, make him an ideal fit for this role as we look to build on the start made over the last few months.

“We will be adding to the elite level basketball experience on the board over the next few months.”
