Barking Abbey alumnus Shequila Joseph has been added to the Great Britain Senior Women’s squad for their second preparation camp.
The camp, which opened this week in Manchester, will see the squad travel to France to continue their preparation ahead of the qualification campaign for the FIBA EuroBasket Women 2019.
Joseph graduated from BA in 2013 to attend the University of Mississippi, where she has just completed her Senior season. It will be a return to National Team action for the first time since 2014, when she represented the Great Britain Under-20s. She had previously represented England every summer at different age groups since 2009, when she was an Under-16.
The camp allows Coach Jose Maria Buceta to view some players, who did not feature in their most recent Belarus tournament. GB had a successful tournament with a 2-1 record, notably beating Argentina, in a hard-fought 57-56 victory in Minsk.
Joseph will join fellow BA alumnus Melita Emanuel-Carr at the camp, as she is a holdover from the initial squad that travelled to Belarus. Meanwhile, Christina Gaskin, Jamila Thompson, and Abigail Johnson were the other three BA alumni involved in the initial camp.
